Active in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945 to 1973, the USCGC Winnebago was a high endurance cutter that was named after Winnebago Lake in Wisconsin. Although it was originally commissioned to serve in WWII, by the time construction on the USCGC Winnebago was finished, the war had ended.
As a result, the USCGC Winnebago spent the bulk of her career serving the Navy in the Vietnam War.
Despite her pivotal role in a few naval battles, however, the USCGC Winnebago exposed her crew and passengers to toxic materials, particularly asbestos.
Asbestos Lawsuits
Used in a number of industrial processes and products, asbestos is a white, resilient mineral that is known to cause a few severe, life-threatening conditions, including:
- asbestosis
- lung cancer
- mesothelioma
Anyone who has developed one of the above conditions after spending time aboard the USCGC Winnebago will likely be entitled to obtain compensation for their injuries, loss and pain and suffering.
Injured parties can learn more about their legal rights by consulting with an experienced asbestos lawyer during a free initial consultation. To further encourage these individuals to stand up for their legal rights, asbestos attorneys will delay payment for their services until (or unless) the case is won.
